VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Thank you for your willingness to serve as a part of the volunteer team for Trinity Lutheran's Together We Grow Basketball Camp, which will be hosted at our Madison site (Trinity Lutheran Church). Dates for the camp are Monday, July 19 through Thursday, July 22, with two sessions each day (5th & 6th grades in the morning, and 7th & 8th grades in the afternoon).

OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer opportunities include helping with drop-off and pick-up, helping with snacks, guiding campers as they move from place to place, and assisting with activities.

  • Registration and check-in: we anticipate a somewhat chaotic first day with some campers being pre-registered and some registering on site.  10-15 patient helpers on Monday from 8-9:30AM and again from noon-1:30PM will help make this more manageable.  3-5 people Tues-Thurs should be sufficient for check-in each shift.

  • Snack/Beverages/Life Skills: we would appreciate donations of fruit and snack items along with water and sports drinks (either individual bottles or mixable packets).  3-5 helpers each day (9:45-11:15 and 1:45-3:15) to direct campers to the snack station, serve/restock the table and then direct them to the life skills station can help smooth the transition.  The life skills presenters would appreciate 1-2 helpers to assist them and campers as needed during their presentations.

  • Setup/reset/tear down: 3-5 helpers at start (8:30-9:00) and finish (4-4:30) each day to ensure everything is ready when campers arrive, and equipment is secured at end of day.  Monday morning and Thursday afternoon will be most critical.

  • Photography:  Shutterbugs are needed for candid and individual camper photos.  Assistants are needed to help with printing and disbursing photos.  (Let us know your availability between 8:45-noon and 12:45-4:00 each day)

  • Devotions:  guidelines have been developed for persons willing to write and/or present daily devotions to our campers during the last 15 minutes of each camp (11:30-noon and 3:30-4:00).

  • Hospitality: we would love to have members available to chat with parents/relatives who choose to stay while their camper is playing.  This may also include entertaining younger children who attend while their older siblings are participating in camp.  (Let us know availability between 8:45-12:15 and 12:45-4:15 each day).

  • Check-out/pick up: 3-5 persons to help ensure our campers are released to their designated pick up people (11:45 -12:15 and 3:45 to 4:15)

Feel free to sign up for any number of slots—all four days, a certain day, or a certain time. The camp practice-run is set for Saturday, July 17—it would be wonderful if you could attend our "rehearsal" that day, but not required.
Questions can be directed to grow@trinluth.org. Again, thanks for being willing to serve our community in this way!
