OUR ADVENT JOURNEY: THE JESSE TREE
Trusting in the Promises of God
Advent is the season to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ as Immanuel, God with us. One way to get ready for Christmas is through daily devotion time with the Lord. This year, Trinity is offering a guided journey through the lineage of the One whose birth we celebrate, Jesus. Like gathering together with family and friends around a Christmas tree, let's gather together during Advent through scripture around a Jesse tree.
The Jesse tree represents Jesus' family tree. The name is taken from Isaiah 11:1, in which Jesus is referred to as a “shoot coming up from the stump of Jesse,” the father of David, a great-grandfather of Jesus. This Advent guide includes references from both the Old and New Testaments that share the stories of Jesus’ ancestors, reminding us of fulfilled prophecies pointing to His life, death, and resurrection. WE CAN TRUST IN THE PROMISES OF GOD!
Our Advent devotion booklets will be available in the narthex beginning December 3 or for download HERE.
Here are some important things to remember for our journey:
This family/personal devotional is set up for the first 25 days of December. Be encouraged to start on the current day, even if some were missed.
Stickers included for each day that can be placed on your Jesse tree or on the corresponding page in the book.
For families with children, we encourage involving children as much as possible through the lighting of the Jesse tree (included in kit), the stickers (included in book), and/or the readings. These are great faith habits to establish!
Enjoy the journey!!!
